If there is one thing I hate about returning back from vacations from Kerala, it is the hangover that lasts atleast for a week. You feel as though you have been transported from one place to another without wanting to, even though you are the one who booked the ticket. Sheesh... what feeling is this!!!
Whatever said and done, it's God's own county with a charm of it. The heavy rains, the smell of the mud after the rain, and then all those smells so unique to Kerala - cow dung, burning firewood, and smells you try hard to figure out what they belong to. Not to mention the great roads... one heavy rain and there you go for a bumpy ride... If you need a full body shake, all you need to do is pop into an Ape auto and go for the ride!!!
What to mention of the mosquitoes... oh, how Rasha hated them for spoiling her hands and legs! I guess most of us NRIs cannot sleep unless the fan is full on and the Good Night is in full swing. Even then, the mosquitoes don't cease to surprise us by giving us the occassional bites and the sing songs. Makes you wonder, is the fan and Good Night meant for you to go off to a sound sleep while the mosquitoes do their turns at sucking your blood???? Point to be noted...
Something that really amazed me this time was how Rasha freaked at the sight of all those creations of God you get to see. In Dubai, you only see cockroaches, but there, you get to see all sorts of bugs and thugs, and Rasha's favorite word was "athine kollo?" (will you kill it?). No wonder it is called God's own country, because it allows one and all creatures to live in harmony with the humans around... :)
Oh, I wish for the rains again!!! :( Missing you, oh rains... You continue to pour heavily in my mind and help it cool... Definitely, a blessing from the Almighty!!!
